MEDC began its journey as a debate competition at the 2017 Maitreyawira Fair. This initial event sparked a strong passion for creating a platform solely dedicated to the art of debate. Recognizing the profound impact debating had on our views, we envisioned an annual event that would inspire and challenge participants. Thus, MEDC was born—a revolutionary platform that has shaped perspectives and become an eagerly anticipated event each year. What started as a regional competition in 2018 has grown into a lasting legacy, thriving thanks to the dedication of debaters like you. This legacy, rooted in a commitment to intellectual engagement and spirited discourse, continues to inspire and challenge participants year after year.

Our journey through the years has been marked by intriguing themes and milestones. From 2017 to 2019, we explored the Principiis Trium trilogy, delving into foundational principles that guided our debates. In 2020, we soared into the Surrealistic World, pushing the boundaries of imagination and debate. The following year, we dove deep into Atlantis, exploring themes of mystery and discovery. In 2022, we presented the 4 Cardinal Virtues, starting with Prudence to distinguish the virtuous from the vicious, and delving into Justice in 2023 to uphold morality against inequity. Each theme not only challenged participants to think critically and creatively but also reflected our commitment to intellectual growth and exploration.

In 2024, MEDC made a triumphant return with a fresh and innovative twist. Rebranded as MXDC (read: Maitreyawira Debating Championship), the 'X' symbolizes the unknown, representing the diverse and mysterious agendas that MXDC will bring. This rebranding marked a new era for our competition, emphasizing the limitless possibilities and uncharted territories in the world of debate. The new identity invigorated the event, attracting a broader range of participants and introducing fresh perspectives. This transformation created an exciting and inclusive arena for aspiring debaters, offering new challenges and opportunities for growth.

In 2025, MXDC is making a triumphant return with a fresh and innovative twist. Under its new identity as MXDC (Maitreyawira Debating Championship), the 'X' in MXDC signifies the diversity of agendas MXDC will showcase, adding an essence of mystery to the upcoming years. Continuing to the fourth Cardinal Virtue: Temperance as its guiding principle, MXDC is set to challenge participants to exhibit unwavering courage, resilience, and determination in the pursuit of excellence in debate. As it redefines itself, MXDC promises to be an exciting and inclusive arena for aspiring debaters.

2025 MXDC now encompasses not only English Debate but also Indonesian Debate. This transformation reflects a commitment to embracing linguistic diversity and providing a platform for debaters to showcase their skills in both English and Indonesian language.
